The Sutton has an elastic waistband, real pockets, a 27-inch inseam and 12-inch rise in a small, and lightweight cotton-blend fabric that moves. That ruffle at the ankle is the detail that takes them from "fun pants" to "where did you get those."

The trick with a piece this loud is to keep the top simple, and Kandace showed you three ways to do it: a solid turquoise knit, a plain denim cape jacket over yellow, and a navy sweater. Any solid works — white, black, cream, navy, brown, denim. Pull one color out of the plaid and build from there.

Lightweight enough for right now, and because there's every color in there, they cross seasons without blinking. Add a sweater and boots and they're a Christmas outfit.
